FADO TROPICAL – Thematic Dinner Event - 23.04.15
On the 23rd of April took place at our restaurant the thematic dinner Fado Tropical, a different way to present Fado, along with the gastronomy that has been the hallmark of these events.
The guests were welcomed on arrival with a glass of gin, perfect to toast to a night of high expectations. The room was intimately decorated, anticipating the perfect fusion between the evening menu and the sonorities. The sound of the Portuguese guitar echoed the room and the dinner started with Stuffed Smoked Ham Mille Feuilles with Cottage Cheeses from Beira Baixa D.O.P., perfumed with fresh Oregano & Black Pepper. And while this delicacy was being tasted, the music travelled around the world, through tropical countries such as Brazil, Venezuela, and Cape Vert, where the Portuguese guitar discovered these sounds that were later incorporated into the Fado.
The silence of the room was broken by the voice of the fadista Emanuela Furtado and the guitarists Orlando Almeida and Pedro Antunes. The Codfish "Lagareiro style” with is own sauce & flavoured with Coriander was served whilst the chords of the guitars were slipping through musicians’ fingers. The menu finished with the unanimously praised dessert - "Our Don Rodrigo”.
The wines of Pato Frio and Herdade Ribafreixo, were the perfect partners to the choice of the menu, fulfilling everyone’s expectations.
